Chirped is a push-to-talk app for jobsite crews, operated by BlueWebMedia ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what the app needs to work, we don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Information we collect
Account & profile
- Sign in with Apple identity — your name and email address (which may be Apple's private relay address) and the identifier Apple provides, used to create and secure your account.
- Display name and trade you enter so your crew can recognize you.
- Profile photo you take or choose, shown to your crew on the map and roster.
Location
With your permission, Chirped collects your precise location to (1) confirm you're physically inside a jobsite before placing you on its channel (geofencing), and (2) show your live position to your crew on the safety map so a foreman can find you if you need help. To support automatic join/leave when you arrive at or leave a site, location may be collected in the background while you're assigned to a site. You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings; doing so will limit or disable on-site features.
Voice audio
When you hold the talk button, your microphone audio is captured and relayed live to the crew members on your channel. Voice is transmitted for real-time playback and is not retained by us beyond the brief window needed to deliver it.
Notifications & device identifiers
If you enable notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can alert you to incoming transmissions. Notifications are optional.
Purchases
Crews use tokens purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment; we receive a record of the transaction to credit your crew's balance. We never see your payment card details.
Diagnostics
We may log limited technical diagnostics (e.g., connection and audio events) to keep the service reliable and fix problems.
App Clip (Visitor Channel)
Chirped offers an App Clip that lets an on-site visitor temporarily join a jobsite's channel by scanning a code. The clip collects a name you enter, your precise location (to confirm you're inside the site), and your microphone audio while you transmit, under an anonymous identifier. The same practices in this policy apply.
How we use your information
- To operate core features: channels, the crew map, geofenced sites, and notifications.
- To maintain your account and your crew memberships.
- To process token purchases and keep balances accurate.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How information is shared
- Your crew. Your name, photo, live location, and voice transmissions are visible to members of the sites you join — that's the point of the app.
- Apple. For Sign in with Apple and In-App Purchase.
- Service providers. We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, messaging) to run the service. They process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
- Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect people's safety.
Data retention & deleting your account
We keep your account information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Account → Delete my account. Deleting your account removes your profile, your site memberships, your profile photo, and your token wallet, and revokes your Sign in with Apple link to Chirped. Some operational records (for example, anonymized crew attendance totals used by a foreman for their own records) may be retained with personal identifiers removed. To request help with deletion, email us at the address below.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and limit collection to what the app needs.
Children
Chirped is intended for the adult workforce and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
